australia day / chinese new year

ok... who can tell me.... when was the last time and when will it be next when chinese new year and australia day falls on the same day?? well.. since australia will always be jan 26 (despite some arguments in the news today)... so when will the next lunar new year be jan 26??

just like Jan 1.... i have these photos of the ferry race from today... but i didnt actually go there.... as most people know, i dont like going to the city... also... i just generally dont like going out to crowded places....
to celebrate australia day, i did something truly australian.... i did sweet f**k all, and just stayed at home and watched the tennis and cricket on tv ^^

and... as for the "lunar" new year.... i dont like it how its actually known as "chinese new year"... coz its not just celebrated in china... haha
even when i was in china, chinese people dont call it chinese new year.... they just call it new year... hmmmm..... maybe thats because they call chinese food, just food....
anyways.... as for the "korean new year"... i ate the normal foods that we eat for korean new years.... and called korea to talk to my grandma and families.... although... i have to say... they didnt sound all that excited that i called... maybe its because i actually went to korea for the past 2 new years... and this year, i just called.... or maybe i've gone to korea too much recently, and called too much.... so its not special when i call.... maybe its because im going to korea in 3 weeks...... -.-
well... the aussies lost the cricket, AGAIN~ lost the series to sth africa, AGAIN~
21 days to go.... until i go to korea.... 3 weeks.... it only seems like yesterday i was meeting people to say hello since i got back... now i have to meet people to say goodbye before i go.... actually, i havent even seen all of my friends since i've been back... sorry to them~
21 days and counting.... i'll try to make the most of my 3 weeks left here now... ^^ i'll try....

korea bound...

I've found a job... and signed the contract.... to work in korea...

so after 4 months of doing sweet f**k all in sydney, i've realised that i still haven't had enough of teaching in asia... haha

in mid-february, probably the 17th, im going to my mother-land, Korea, to start work on the 18th... its a one year contract... and this time, i will be taking the offer for a return ticket at the end of each year to come back home....

i think if i came back to sydney once a year while i was in china, i wouldnt have made a drastic decision to pack up and come back at all.... hehe

i know i will settle down and live in sydney after i get married... so i dont want to spend my 20's living here... coz really, compared to asia, sydney is pretty dead... and expensive!

i've been to korea many times... but i've never worked there, or lived there since i came to australia when i was 5.... so i dont know how i will adapt there...

china actually isnt hard to adapt... coz there isnt any particular norm... u just do wat u want to do, and be what u want to be... but in korea... the entire country follows a handful of "trends".... and i dont think i can do that... i cant have the same haircuts as the other koreans... im not going to grow a fringe and colour my hair.... im not going to wear trousers in summer, and im not going to wear scarves and coats in autumn..... hmmmm......

i hope all goes well when im in korea... i feel more nervous about korea than china.... i think i've "china-fied"...

camping

last weekend, i went camping with andrew, kyung and brendan... we went out west, a bit further past lithgow... found a campsite, and camped there for 2 nights...

good location... surrounded by mountains, there was a little creek... a few other people camping.... good walks in the area... ruins...

andrew almost burnt me the first night by pouring sausage fat from the frying pan into the campfire... and the fire just burned really big as i was sitting beside it.... it was homing towards me~! haha

the second day, we went for a walk... but the creek/river needed to be crossed... and i was the only one wearing sandals, and the other 3 were wearing sneakers... so i had to stand in the water so the other 3 can cross over me without getting wet....

then they walked thru the bush towards the ruins... whilst i walked alone down the river... while i was walking down, i saw a couple of kangaroos drinking from the river... i didnt know whether i should quietly walk past them or to go back... then the 2 kangaroos skipped away... so i thought they were just scared of humans so they skipped away... but as i walked down the river, 3 kangaroos came back~!!! when 2 skips away, and comes back with a 3rd... to me, thats showing aggression..... so i crapped my pants and went back up the river from where i came from.... haha

on the whole, it was a really good camp.... our tent was nice and spacious for 4... since it was like a 12 man tent.... the scenery around the site was top notch~ and the weather was perfect for camping too.... andrew cooked well.... despite running out of good food, we had to eat canned steak... which looked like CHUM (dog food).... my farts on the 2nd night were lethal~!!! so bad that we had to open the side hatches of the tent... hahahaha

good times~~ ^^

the new year....

It's 2009.... i didnt actually watch the fireworks... i dont even know if this photo is from NYE this year.... meh~ its still a sydney fireworks shot....

i spent NYE playing nintendo wii, and now that its 2009, i have started actively job hunting too...

i really couldnt decide which country i wanted to work in, so i applied for jobs in shanghai, beijing, seoul and australia.... note.... australia.... not just sydney....

at the moment, it seems like im headed for korea.... which i dont mind at all..... i've never actually "lived" in korea since i moved to australia when i was 5.... so obviously, i've never worked in korea before... so i am a bit curious about what life would be like in korea....

i have a few new year resolutions.... and one of them is to not waste time and money this year.....

i will be turning 25 this year.... quarter century~!!! i hope this year will be a really memorable year for me....
happy new year everyone~
