korea vs japan.... again...

5 days after the baseball.... another "rivalry"??

this time, it was figure skating.... i know, i know... its figure skating.... but if ur korean, u will know.... kim yuna is a household name here, and most people woke up at 7am on a saturday and sunday morning to watch the figure skating....

including me... ^^

well... its not so much i like the figure skating.... i just think kim yuna is really cute.... haha

she broke the world record, and came first.... it was seen as a korea vs japan thing again, coz the only 2 girls who really contest for 1st are kim yuna and another jap girl....

i dont know how other people feel.... this doesnt really make up for the baseball final loss... but it definitely did take alot of media and attention away from the baseball and back on positive news....

classic upset...

it happened in 2006, and it happened again today....

korea has been playing well all tournament, and thumped venuzuela 10-2 in the semi-finals to face japan again in the final of the baseball classic.

it was their 5th match during the tournament, and korea and japan has 2 wins and 2 losses against each other..... besides losing to each other twice, both korea and japan has won all their other games pretty comfortably....

today.... korea lost to japan 5-3..... they were losing 1-0... and got that back with a solo home run.... 1-1

then japan went ahead again.... 3-1.... and korea got a run back in the bottom of the 8th, 3-2.....

and with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, when i thought it was all over, korea rallied to score again to tie the game 3-3....

into extra innings.... in the top of the 10th, with 2 runners on base and 2 outs, the korean pitcher decided to throw to ichiro suzuki... despite the coach telling him to throw wide and walk him....

well, ichiro hit him, and japan scored 2 more runs to go 5-3, and korea failed to catch up this time....

the loss was soooooooooooooo gutting~~ almost as bad as the gutted feeling i got in 2002 when korea lost to germany in the soccer world cup semis....

ah well.... people thought korea would come 7th out of the 16 countries in the classic.... gold medal at the 2008 olympics, and silver here.... i guess korean baseball is gettin somewhere now...

the world baseball classic...

these days when im not working, im just in front of the tv watching the WBC...

its like the world cup of baseball....

its only the 2nd tournament ever... and during the first tournament 3 years ago, korea and faced off 3 times in the one tournament....

korea beat japan twice in the tournament, but japan beat korea in the semi finals, and then went on to win the WBC....

this year, the first time they matched up, japan thumped korea 14-2.... such a sad night.... but after that, korea won 1-0, and last night korea beat japan 4-1 again to qualify for the semi finals...

so again.... korea has beaten japan twice.... and korea have made the final four again....

japan must now beat cuba to qualify for the semi finals, and if they beat cuba, they will play korea again... for the fourth time~!

go korea!!!

i bring you.... MY ROOM~!!!

ok... i remembered that my sister left her camera here with me... because she needed me to recharge the battery....

well, i took some photos of my room, and i am putting it online now ^^

so... this is the main bedroom.... this is where i sleep, this is where i watch tv..... this is where i am right now....

the room below is the smaller room.... at the moment, it just has one clothes hanger in it with my shirts and trousers on it.... i will most likely use this room as a closet and storage room for junk.....

this is the main entrance.... as soon as u walk in, u will see the sink and fridge to the left.....

i guess this is just the space where all the doors meet.....

and as for the toilet.... as u can see, it is also the laundry.....

there is a shower hose.... its just not hanging on the wall coz i just washed my feet and couldnt be bothered hanging it again ^^

as for my laziness... u can see that i havent cooked much.... the spoons, scissors and knife hasnt even been taken out of the packet.... haha

well, that was my house.... this will be the place i call home for at least the year that i live here...

unless i move houses in the next few months....

there is a canadian guy leaving in a few months, and his place is a lot bigger than mine, but the downside is that i only live 2 minutes from work.... he lives 5 minutes from work.... thats more than double the distance..... ^^

after the first week of work....

so... first week of work in Korea.... i've met all of my students at least twice now.... and they are all really wonderful...

sure there are some noisy ones, some hyperactive ones... some really shy and quite ones.... but that comes in any class of teaching...

my students are in year 6 or year 7.... but their english is really good~!

so my work is good.... my house is now all fine.... things are really smoothing out here in korea...

i met charles (uni mate from sydney) yesterday for lunch... he's only a few stations away from where i am.... it was nice to catch up with old friends again.... since he's not too far from my place, i can see lunch with charles becoming a more regular thing during the week....

i'll be meeting another sydney friend on saturday for lunch, and then ruadhri, who i worked with in china, on saturday night.... he's also in korea after leaving our dodgy school in china...

i guess i'll never really have to worry about being homesick or lonely here.... i've been hanging out a bit with the teachers at our school too this week... and since we all live within 50m from each other.... too easy~

i would like to put up photos of my life here... but really.. its hard to do it without my camera....

hmmm.... maybe i'll use my sister's and then put some photos up next time.... ^^
